When do you expect to make the decision about maori seats? (see my earlier question)
When you say you will make the decision don't you mean the Council?
Will the public have any say in the decision making process?

Just last week I discussed
Just last week I discussed this topic with the Chief Executive Officer. A decision can't be made at the moment about the Maori seats because, according to the information that the CEO gave to me, a referrendum held two elections ago was a ' No' to Maori seats at that time.
This topic is being revisited at present in council also. You are correct in that when I say I will make a decision, I clearly mean the council. If we can proceed on moving towards Maori seats then staff will prepare a report for council. This report will go to the Iwi Liaison Committee for their recommendation and then onto council for discussion. A decision on involving the public will be determined at these meetings, although, I believe that the public voice is integral to decisision making.
I hope that this clarifies the matter for you.
